Meet K-9 Hondo. Hondo is the next in line to be spotlighted in the "Meet the Officer" series.
Hondo joined the department in 2022. Hondo is a 3 ½-year-old German Shepherd of Czech descent. Hondo’s parents were imported from the Czech Republic to the United States and were working dogs. Hondo was partnered with Officer Bradley Sutton in August of 2022. Since the K-9 program’s inception, K-9 Hondo and Officer Sutton have been deployed 50 times. 40 of these deployments were for narcotic detection. Of those 40 deployments, 33 resulted in the seizure of narcotics or narcotic paraphernalia. Hondo has also been used to assist other agencies in tracking suspects and article searches. Narcotic seizures from Hondo’s indications include methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, and LSD. Hondo has also been used to assist other agencies with tracking suspects and conducting building searches. Several suspects indicated their compliance with officers was strictly due to K-9 Hondo being on the scene.
